Nelly Jordan is out as vice-chairwoman of the Sussex County Republican Party after a Facebook posting viewed as anti-Semitic.

Afterward Jordan told the Wilmington News Journal that she was not anti-Semitic but realizes her words were inappropriate and apologized for them.

One passage referred to “Many Jews In Name Only” who supported the impeach of the president.

The vote was nearly split down the middle with some expressing frustration that the party had to deal with the issue just as it enters an election year.

16 year veteran of the Sussex County Council Vance Phillips is being urged not to run for another term by the county republican chairman John Reilly.

But Phillips says he will run anyway.

In an email Reilly wrote that vote by the local GOP was unanimous.

Phillips is facing a lawsuit which charged him with sexual misconduct including rape.

Phillips denies the charges.

But Reiley wrote that the lawsuit which is set to be heard next year…promises to be “an ugly political battle” that would hurt the GOP.

GEORGETOWN, Del. (AP) - Some Delaware Republicans are trying to push out the state party's executive director because of his public support for legalizing same-sex marriage.

Sussex County Republican leaders introduced a nonbinding resolution at a monthly meeting this week calling for the dismissal of GOP Executive Director John Fluharty, saying his views conflict with those of the party he represents.

John Fluharty, who is gay, attended a Wilmington fundraiser last month for Equality Delaware, which advocates the legalization of same-sex marriage in the state.

The man who coordinated the failed Senate Campaign of Tea Party favorite Christine O’Donnell is set to become the permanent chair of the GOP in Sussex County.

Acting chairman John Rieley along with district chair Fred Silva are set to take over the two top spots.

The News Journal reports that both will take up those positions after a meeting and election on March 11.

Rieley was named acting chairman after the death of Chairman Jerry Woods on Dec. 28.
