ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan is highlighting the need to reduce violent crime in Baltimore in his State of the State speech.

Hogan gave his annual speech Wednesday to the Maryland General Assembly.

He says crime is an urgent crisis and decisive action is needed. The Republican governor called for bipartisanship in his speech to the legislature, which is controlled by Democrats.

Hogan urged lawmakers to support his proposal for tax relief for retirees.

DOVER, Del. (AP/DPR) — Gov. John Carney is proposing tens of millions of dollars in capital investments to strengthen Delaware's economic infrastructure.

In his State of the State address Thursday, Carney called for investing $50 million in economic development initiatives.

This would include new programs to build lab space to help emerging companies grow, and to make commercial sites quickly available for prospective employers.

In addition, Carney push additional restrictions on guns noting the passage of the Beau Biden Violence initiative and the Red Flag laws.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan is scheduled to give the annual State of the State speech, and he has said he'll be proposing a tax cut.

Hogan will give the speech to a joint session of the General Assembly on Wednesday.

At a PBS Newshour discussion Monday night in Baltimore, the Republican said he would talk about a "major tax cut" when he delivers the speech, though he declined to offer details Monday night.

Governor John Carney is set to give his State of the State address to Delaware lawmakers this afternoon.

WBOC reports that Carney has said that while the state’s finances are showing progress they need to be on firmer financial ground.

In addition, the Delaware Democrat wants to expand the ability to vote with early voting and same day voting.

On jobs Carney says that he has seen some progress but more needs to be done.

And on education the Democrat says he was $60 million for more school funding.

In his State of the State address Governor John Carney told lawmakers that they must come together to solve the budget issues that are now facing the First State.

The Delaware Democrat said that they must also find ways to improve the economy and bring better education to the state’s children.

The governor warned lawmakers not to use one-time revenue shortfalls but rather focus on structural budgetary reforms.

Carney called for additional funding next year for to hire nearly 200 teachers to deal with the increase in the number of students attending school.

DOVER, Del. (AP) - Delaware Gov. Jack Markell is set to give his final State of the State address.

The two-term Democrat, who is prohibited by law from seeking a third term, will address a joint session of the General Assembly on Thursday.

Markell will lay out his vision for the state during his final year in office, calling for Delawareans to build on the accomplishments of his administration and to expect more progress, even in challenging times.

Governor Jack Markell delivered his seventh State of the State address yesterday hailing the economic progress in the First State.

But he called on lawmakers to help him close a $780 million spending gap in meeting the state’s transportation needs.

In addition, he focused on issues ranging from ways to improve education and to end veteran homelessness to dealing with substance abuse.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that the address was well received by lawmakers.
