February marks Black History Month. And, Delmarva Today begins with a look at two books. Host Don Rush talks with Rio Cortez co-author of the children's book "The ABC's of Black History" and then explores a new novel by Robert Jones Junior, "The Prophets" about a plantation in the antebellum South.

29-year-old Vashti Harrison from Accomack County received an award Sunday for outstanding literary work for children from the 49th NAACP Image Awards.

Her book, ”Little Leaders: Bold Women in Black History”, was published just last month.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that in her acceptance speech she said she dedicated the award to little girls and the black women of history.

In a recent interview with the paper she said she hoped the book would make young people aware of the many are opportunities that await them.
