Paid Sick Leave is now the law of the land in Maryland.

The Maryland Senate had voted to give employers until July 1st to meet the demands of the new law but a House panel effectively killed the delay.

It requires that businesses with 15 or more employees must provide 5 days of paid six leave a year after the first 106 days of employment.

Bill Chambers, president and CEO of the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce, told the Salisbury Daily Times that he believed it would hurt small businesses.
