DOVER, Del. (AP) - A state House committee is set to consider a bill easing Delaware's laws on restaurants serving alcohol.

Under the current law, a restaurant must have seating for at least 35 people in order to be eligible for a license to sell beer, wine or liquor.

The legislation to be discussed Wednesday changes the definition of restaurants eligible for liquor licenses to include establishments that serve complete meals and provide seating for at least 12 people, not 35.

You might be able to order a drink a bit later in the state of Delaware.

Legislation is pending that would extend last call from 1 a.m. to 2 a.m.

Small venues would pay $1-thousand to sell after alcohol for that hour while larger places would pay $5-thousand.

The legislation is now in the House Economic Development Committee.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - Maryland's highest court says bars can't be held responsible for accidents their patrons cause after they leave.

The Court of Appeals ruled Thursday in the case of a 2008 drunken driving crash in Montgomery County that killed a 10-year-old girl.

The girl's grandparents, the Rev. William Warr Jr. and his wife Angela, had sued a Gaithersburg bar that served Michael Eaton 17 beers and several more drinks of hard liquor on the night of the crash.
