Delaware State Parks are imposing a ban on outside firewood.

WBOC reports that the voluntary firewood ban is an effort to keep invasive species of insects from other states at bay.

The television station reports that the Department of Agriculture told WRDE it was concerned about the emergence of the Spotted Lanternfly in northern Delaware.

It has already issued an emergency quarantine order for New Castle County.

Campers at state parks will be barred from transporting firewood from outside the local area into the campgrounds.

State officials say that the insect targets specific trees.
