VA Bay Restoration Fund Accepting Grant Applications

Chesapeake Bay Foundation

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - A state committee is accepting applications for grant proposals related to preserving and restoring the Chesapeake Bay.

The Chesapeake Bay Restoration Fund Committee said recently it has $288,000 available to dole out based on the proceeds from the state selling special Chesapeake Bay-themed license plates.

The grants are available to nonprofits and schools whose projects focus on environmental education or restoration and conservation.

The deadline for submitting grants is Oct. 1.

Since 1996, the state has awarded more than $7.4 million in grants funded by the sale of the special Chesapeake Bay license plates.
