Two of Delaware’s universities along with a community college are asking for nearly $180 million in funding for new construction and maintenance projects.
The Wilmington News Journal reports that Delaware State University is seeking $100 million for repairs that range from mechanical systems and campus roadways to existing buildings.
The paper also reports that the University of Delaware wants $66.5 million to fund a new building on its STAR campus.
Finally, Delaware Technical Community College is asking for $12.5 million to deal with an aging infrastructure along with the expansion of a parking garage.
If approved by the Bond Bill Committee the three projects would represent an 800-percent increase in the capital funding that was recommended by Governor John Carney.
