The Assateague Island National Seashore saw a swimming death during the July 4th holiday.
The Salisbury Daily Times reports that officials received an initial call at around 6:40 p.m. of a body floating face down in the water.
It was around 75 yards from the shore.
Maryland Natural Resources officials are withholding the name of the victim pending notification of the next of kin.
They told the paper that this is the first drowning to take place in the national part this year.
The last was in August of 2016.
