Salisbury University President Janet Dudley Eshbach told a vigil last night that the student Kristen Loetz is expected to recover and could walk again after being shot by a former boyfriend Tuesday night.

20 year old Loetz is now at Shock Trauma in Baltimore and is listed in critical but stable condition.

The incident occurred at the residences on Onley Road when an argument developed between Loetz and 21-year old Ryan Shallue.

When a friend 19 year old Charles Abbot tried to intervene authorities say that Shallue drew a semi-automatic and shot and killed Abbott wounding Loetz than killed himself.

Abbot’s sister April told the Salisbury Daily Times that it was just like her brother to be a hero.

Counseling services are available in the wake of Tuesday night’s shootings.
