Shooting at Delaware Elementary School

DOVER, Del. (AP) - Authorities say a man has been fatally shot at a Delaware elementary school and a person of interest has been identified.

News outlets report Dover police say the shooting wasn't random and there's no threat to Towne Point Elementary School. A police release says officers responding to a report of shots fired at the school Tuesday night found 39-year-old Derrick Combs dead with multiple gunshot wounds. Police say no students were present during the shooting.

Capital School District Superintendent Dan Shelton released a statement calling the shooting a "domestic incident." Police cited Shelton's statement in their own release and excluded the portion stating the shooting was domestic.

The school closed Wednesday and canceled an open house. Shelton says the school is expected to reopen Thursday with additional police presence.
