More people are putting their money on The Casino at Ocean Downs' card tables and feeding their coins into the slot machines, as financial reports show the casino's revenue has increased by 9.2% over the past year.
The Maryland Lottery has released April's revenue numbers, and the Berlin casino generated $3,831,903 in April of 2012; an increase of $323,214 over April 2011.
The casino's share (33%) of the April profits totaled $1,264,528 after funds were disbursed to the Education Trust Fund, local impact grants, the horse racing purse account, race tracks facility renewal account, the small, minority & women-owned business account, and the Maryland Lottery.
Cecil County's Hollywood Casino is still the heavy-gaming-hitter, as the Maryland Lottery reported Hollywood Casino generated $10,704, 892 in April 2012.
April's statewide revenue from the two Maryland casinos totalled $14 million.
The two Maryland casinos could soon face competition as the Maryland Live! Casino at Arundel Mills is scheduled to open on June 6.
