Ocean City Mayor Issues Statement on Topless Lawsuit

all free download

No going topless on the Ocean City beaches.

Mayor Rick Meehan declared that it must remain a family friendly resort.

The Mayor was responding to a lawsuit filed by Salisbury resident Chelsea Eline and four other women.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that they claim that the emergency ordinance banning the practice is unconstitutional.

But Meehan said that the ordinance did not involve the First Amendment or the right to privacy and that the city would take all legal options in the case.

The lawsuit wants a ruling that the ordinance violates the 14th amendment of equal protection and the Declaration of Rights to the Maryland Constitution.
