National Folk Festival Opens in Salisbury

National Folk Festival

The opening of the National Folk Festival in Salisbury has finally arrived.

It will kick off tonight at 6 p.m. with the Treme Brass Band from New Orleans at the city stage.

Opening remarks will take place at 7:15 which will be followed by the musical group Mariachi Los Comperos.

The night at the city stage will wrap up with a bit of blues from the Marquise Knox.

There will be free parking at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center and the old Salisbury Mall across the street where shuttles will be provided beginning 5 p.m.

City officials expect thousands to attend the first year of the festival.
