National Democrats Target MD Congressman Andy Harris

official photos

The Democratic Party has identified the congressional seat of Maryland Republican Andy Harris and a potential target that could be flipped this election cycle.

Ben Ray Lujan, chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, noted that candidate Jesse Colvin has put together a strong campaign operation.

He added makes it a race to watch.

Colvin raised nearly $700-thousand in total contributions as of the end of June.

Over the same period Harris took in just over $753-thousand.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that he caught the attention of Democratic officials by outraising Harris during the first quarter of the race.

Meanwhile, Patrick O’Keefe, executive director of the Maryland GOP, told the paper that it would be a waste of the Democrat’s money to try to defeat Harris who he said was popular in the district.

Harris narrowly lost to Democratic candidate Frank Kratovil in 2008 but took the seat in the Republican wave of 2010 and has easily won reelection ever since.
