MILFORD, Del. (AP) - A city of nearly 11,000 in the middle of Delaware will once again have a movie theater, after an absence of a few decades.
The Wilmington Journal reports Delaware businessman Arthur Helmick plans to open a state-of-the0arty movie theater in Milford by the end of next summer.
Since the Milford Plaza Cinema closed in the early 1980s, residents have had to drive more than 20 miles north to Dover or south to Rehoboth Beach to see a first-run movie.
Calling movies "still one of the most inexpensive nights out," Helmick says Milford needs entertainment options as it's likely to be the next growth area.
Two years in the making, it will cost around $12 million to retrofit an old Walmart and add the state's first laser projectors.
