Mega Chicken House Farm Plans Near Salisbury, No More

Don Rush

The large chicken farm slated for just north of Salisbury has been scrapped.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that the owners have sold the property off Naylor Mill and North West roads for $545-thousand according the state property records.

The new owners plan on turning the land into a sod farm with a smaller section into an organic cherry tomato patch.

This ends a two year battle by residents who opposed the construction of a proposed facility that had originally planned for 13 huge chicken houses.

Gabby Cammarata who founded the citizens group opposed to the project told the paper that while it took two years of effort the fight was worth it.

She added there were a lot of people happy about the outcome.
