ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) - A judge ruled that a Maryland teen who brought a loaded handgun to school the day after the deadly school shooting in Parkland, Florida, will remain in jail without bond, citing troubling journal entries and the student's ability to build guns.
WTOP-FM reports attorneys for 18-year-old Alwin Chen moved for Tuesday's emergency hearing last week, asserting that Montgomery County District Judge John C. Moffett had been given "fundamentally incorrect information" during Chen's first bond hearing. That information included claims that Chen had a "list of grievances" and possessed a grenade and electrical firing device, both of which were actually replicas.
Moffett said the Clarksburg High School student presented a danger society even in home detention.
Chen's attorney Jill Michaels says the defense team appreciated the chance to correct the record.
