creative commons

In Maryland’s next legislative session combatting climate change could be a top priority.

The federal government just released a 16-hundred page report that predicted its major economic implications.

The state Assembly is expected to take up the Maryland Clean Energy Jobs Act.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports an industry report says that currently the state gets around 3 percent of its statewide power from solar panels.

The state has a commitment of depending on 50 percent of its energy needs from renewable energy sources in the future.

Brooke Harper is Maryland director for CCAN Action Fund and political action chair for the Maryland Conference of the NAACP and says upping solar power could mean as many as 20-thousand jobs.

The Jobs Act would also triple offshore wind energy for the state which has two projects planned off the coast of Ocean City.
