DOVER, Del. (AP) - The state Senate has confirmed Gov. Jack Markell's nominations for cabinet secretaries to lead Delaware's education and safety and homeland security departments.

With Wednesday's confirmation votes, former Wilmington public safety director Jim Mosely will succeed retiring Safety and Homeland Security Lewis Schiliro.

Steven Godowsky, a longtime education administrator, will replace Mark Murphy as education secretary.

The Senate also approved several judicial nominees, including confirming Tamika Montgomery-Reeves as the first black and only the second woman to serve as a judge on Delaware's Court of Chancery.

Senators also approved Jennifer Ranji, who currently leads the Department of Services for Children, Youth and Their Families, and Danielle Blount, a former deputy counsel to Markell, to seats on the Family Court.
