Juliette Bell Talks Departure fom UMES

Juliette Bell who is stepping down as president of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore says she will not be completely separating her ties from the historically black college.

During a news conference yesterday Bell said that she would continue on as a special advisor to the institution for at least a year.

As for her future Bell said she had not decided what she might do but noted that she had been writing a book in her head for the last ten years.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that Bell said she would be returning to her home in North Carolina after June.

As for her time at the university the outgoing president said that her tenure at UMES has been a dream come true –  the opportunity to bring her vision to life.

Bell’s departure comes just months after Janet Dudley-Eshbach announced that she was stepping down as president of Salisbury University.
