NEWARK, Del. (AP) - Students at the University of Delaware could soon have a tougher time making the dean's list.
The Wilmington News Journal reported Saturday that the school's Committee of Undergraduate Students is considering ways to make the honor more competitive.
Earlier this year, the committee proposed raising the requirement from a 3.33 GPA to a 3.5 GPA.
The proposal was debated last month by the Faculty Senate. It sent the proposal back to the committee with suggested changes. For instance, different standards could be applied to each program. Or dean's list could be based on a top percentage of students.
The minimum requirement was last raised in 1998 from a 3.25 GPA. At that time, 25 percent of students made the list. Now, nearly half of full-time undergraduates obtain a 3.33 GPA.
