NEWARK, Del. (AP) - University of Delaware officials say one person was taken to a hospital after a hazardous materials incident in a campus lab.

Emergency crews were called to the Sharp Laboratory on Tuesday morning and the building was evacuated. Officials say one person was transported to an area hospital and another was treated on the scene as a precaution.

Drew Bowerson, deputy chief of the Aetna Hose, Hook & Ladder Company, says crews found no hazardous issues and turned the scene over to the university's hazardous materials team.

The schools' environmental health and safety department is investigating the incident.

South College Avenue is closed between Kent Way and Delaware Avenue. University officials asked people to avoid the area.
