Governor John Carney is making a bid to capture the site for Amazon’s second U.S. headquarters.
He is touting Delaware’s central location as well as relatively low tax burden.
Carney said he believes that Delaware has offered a competitive proposal to lure Amazon to the First State.
His plan offers two sites for the 8 million square-foot office space.
This is a $5 billion real estate investment that would bring up to 50-thosuand jobs.
The facility would be a corporate headquarters with jobs offering an average salary of $100-thousand.
The Wilmington News Journal reports that Amazon already has a 1.2 million square-foot distribution center in Middletown as well as a smaller facility in New Castle.
