DOVER, Del. (AP) - Gov. Jack Markell is in the midst of a week long trip to build business and diplomatic ties with Japan and Korea.
After a business visit Monday in Tokyo, Markell planned to travel to Miyagi Prefecture, Delaware's sister state, to sign an exchange agreement with Miyagi Governor Yoshihiro Murai recognizing 15 years of sister-state relations between Delaware and Miyagi.
Markell, who began the trip Friday, is accompanied by Agriculture Secretary Ed Kee and representatives from the Delaware Department of State.
On Tuesday, Markell planned to hold a video conference with Japanese language students at Appoquinimink High School and view earthquake damage in Dover's sister city of Iwanuma City.
Following the visit to Japan, the Delaware contingent was scheduled to travel to Korea for meetings on Thursday and Friday.
