Get Ready to Pay for Summer Parking at the Beach

Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk

Summer time is just around the corner and the parking will no longer be free in some beach towns.

On May 15 those visiting Bethany Beach will have to pony up some cash to park in beach lots and designated areas on Atlantic and Pennsylvania Avenues from First Street to Hollywood Street.

In addition, there will be paid parking on Garfield Parkway and the lots by PNC Bank and the fire department.

In Lewes parking meter enforcement began May 1 with residents and visitors required to pay 75 cents per hour in the business district and $1.50 per hour for beach parking.

Meanwhile, Rehoboth Beach will introduce a new way to pay…when its paid parking begins on May 25.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that visitors will be able to preregister for parking by downloading a free app and then using their smart phones to pay the meters.

The $1.50 per hour fee will be accompanied by an additional 50 cent charge for each transaction.
