Even though Keith Spanarelli ran in the Democratic party primary to unseat incumbent Senator Tom Carper.
He is not staying with his party.
After he got trounced by Carper, Spanarelli is backing independent Senate Candidate Alex Pires.
Spanarelli said he wants to help – what he called – the little guy over the big-guy and urged voters to oust Carper as a professional politician.
Carper says he keeps in touch with voters touring the state on a regular basis.
Carper now faces Republican challenger Kevin Wade and green Party candidate Andrew Groff as well as Pires.
