Crash Landing at Melfa Airport

In Melfa, Virginia a plane ran off the runway as it attempted to land at the local airport.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that smoke could be seen on the northwest side at around 3 p.m. yesterday.

The pilot and a passenger escape without injury.

The Accomack County Sheriffs, the Virginia State Police and the Accomack County Department of Public Safety responded to the crash.

The accident remains under investigation.
