Court Hears OC Topless Ban Challenge in September

Don Rush

There will be a court hearing in Baltimore at the end of September on whether or not Ocean City can bar women from going topless in public places.

The lawsuit claims that the ordinance violates the plaintiffs’ legal right to be bare-chested in public in the same places as men for purposes other than breast feeding.

In addition, they claim that the ban violates equal rights under the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution as well as Declaration of Rights to the Maryland Constitution.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that in the past resort officials have said that they want to protect the rights of families who come to Ocean City.
