Charles Wight has been named the new president of Salisbury University and will begin his term on July 1st.
He will succeed outgoing president Janet Dudley-Eshbach who is stepping down after 18 years of leading Salisbury University.
Wight has been president of Weber State University in Utah since 2013.
Wight issued a statement that called Salisbury University a great institution and said that he would be ready to lead it come July.
The Salisbury Daily Times reports that he led a $164 million fundraising campaign which had an original goal of $39 million.
The paper reports that he also expanded the needs-based assistance program at the university.
Wight also established Weber State’s first LGBT Resource Center.
