There were over 2-thousand at the seventh annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Ocean City.

They walked, they ran and many cheered on the participants.

When it was all over Michael Jessup, executive director of the organization, told the Salisbury Daily Times that $175-thousand had been raised for breast cancer research.

It was a 5k walk and run that stretched along the Ocean City Boardwalk beginning at the inlet and returning from 18th Street.

The paper reports that the organization says Maryland has the sixth highest breast cancer death rate in the nation.

Just over 52-hundred people were diagnosed with the disease last year.
